The City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare
Pirate Princess’s Review
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder—much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing—not even a smear of blood—to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .
Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare’s ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.”

RATING 5 STARS!
Not as creepy as the title makes it sound.
The main character in this book is Clarissa ‘Clary’ Fray. The main conflict in this book….Is hard to explain, but I’ll do my best. Suddenly, Clary is seeing things: people disappearing into the floor for instance. When her mother goes missing, she’s taken in by the Shadowhunters, and one of them happens to be a boy named Jace.
The book takes place in Brooklyn! 😀 I thought that was cool, along with the conflict. The conflict in this book was good. It had thrills, awesome twists, and cool action scenes. Though I’m a little disappointed vampires don’t glitter. 🙁 The romance in this book……Was okay. Kinda creepy, kinda funny.
The ending. OMG, the ending. I found something in the ending hilarious! 😀 In the ending, we have questions answered, action scenes, but there was a scene that I thought was a little too dramatic. I can’t tell you because it would be a spoiler, but it had too much drama.
The book altogether, was good. Four stars! There was some stuff that gave me the creeps….But four stars! 😀
I recommend to Teen through Adult, people who love magic and can handle some creeps and blood. If you’ve read Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices #1), you’ll want to take a look at this one. 🙂
