THE REVIEWERS

We have FOUR different reviews at BooksAreBetterThanIceCream.com.

Michael is 8-yrs-old and he enjoys children’s novels and novellas with humor, action, and adventure.  He likes Hank the Cowdog series because it has a dog who is very silly.  He also enjoys series like The MagicTree House and How to Train Your Dragon.  He is a very picky reader, so if he likes your book, you totally rocked it.

Izzy is our teen reviewer and prefers to review Middle Grade and YA paranormal.  She prefers series like Percy Jackson and Jessica’s Guide to Dating on the Dark Side.  Stories with folklore and mythology tied into the story line are preferred.  This reader will not review stories with graphic content.

Marie reviews Dark Paranormal, YA, and children’s novels.  She likes novels with a twist and that are a little darker and edgy.  Examples are the Fever Series, Demon Kissed Series, and Harry Potter Series.

Mike reads everything, but prefers contemporary fiction.  He is not accepting historical fiction (but Marie will if it has a paranormal element).  Favorite author’s include Harlan Coben, Preston & Child, and John Scalzi.

*We do not receive money in exchange for our reviews.*
This site is filled with books that we love, and every reader knows that it can be difficult to find a good book with so many titles to chose from.  That is why we created this site, and we have multiple reviewers, so you can find books for the whole family all in one place!

WHAT’S THE RATING SYSTEM LOOK LIKE?
The rating system has been created to make it easy to see book ratings.  5 stars is the best rating a book can get, with 1 star being the lowest.

5 STARS IS TOO AWESOME TO PASS UP! =boy book review, early reader boy books, boy book reviews

4 STARS IS YOU GOTTA READ THIS! =
ya book review, teen book review, best of teen books

3 STARS IS PRETTY GOOD =
three star books, ya books 3 stars

We don’t usually leave ratings for books that we didn’t care for. Indie books with a ranking below 3 stars won’t be reviewed.  We want to be able to post awesome reviews for books we enjoyed.

SITE CONTENT
We post author interviews, book reviews, give-a-ways, book trailers, upcoming releases, publisher news, and more!

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE US TO POST YOUR REVIEW?
It depends on which reviewer is reading your novel, but most will read and post within 2 months of receiving your book.  If a review is required within a certain time frame, please notify us to see if we can accommodate your schedule.

WILL YOU REVIEW INDIE/ SELF-PUBLISHED WORKS?
Yes, as long as they fit into the types of novels listed above.  Please make sure your work is completely finished before submitting a review request.  You MUST include the release date, genre, intended age, indication of level of sexual content, and a brief description with your inquiry to be considered.

CAN I CHOOSE MY REVIEWER?
You can suggest a reviewer for your novel, but ultimately we will choose which of us will review your novel.  This ensures your novel is reviewed in a timely manner.  And, if one of use reads a book and doesn’t care for it, it may be given to one of our other reviewers.  Example: Izzy dislikes dark themes, but Marie enjoys them.  If Izzy passes on the novel, it will be given to Marie.
